LG’s $2 Billion lansing battery plant is now building cells

LG Energy Solution started production at its $2 billion Lansing plant, making nickel-manganese-cobalt cells for Toyota’s 2027 Highlander EV and lithium-iron-phosphate cells for Tesla’s Megapack 3. Output will exceed 35 GWh per year. The plant, formerly a GM-state joint venture, employs about 900 workers, expanding to 1,700 as dedicated Megapack 3 lines are added. LG aims for over 50 GWh of LFP capacity across five North American sites by year-end.
