LG’s experimental LMR cells held 92.2% of their energy after 883 cycles

LG Energy Solution and Seoul National University report that experimental lithium-manganese-rich cells retain 92.2% of their energy after 883 charge-discharge cycles. The high cycle life is achieved by adjusting charge and discharge voltages instead of changing the cell chemistry. The cells use a manganese-based chemistry that replaces nickel and cobalt, a raw material China refines almost entirely while Europe produces only a small share.
