LinkedIn beats "BrowserGate" lawsuits over scanning users' Chrome extensions

A federal judge dismissed two lawsuits accusing LinkedIn of scanning users’ Chrome extensions, finding the plaintiffs lacked standing because they did not show that any installed extensions transmitted private data to LinkedIn. The judge allowed the complaints to be amended but expressed doubt the plaintiffs could plausibly allege a privacy violation. Both California residents may pursue appeals or refile in state court.
