Loft Orbital and Marlan Space plan $1bn AI satellite fleet with Mistral

Loft Orbital and Marmar Space have initiated a $1 billion program to grow the Altair constellation from 10 to 50 AI-enabled satellites. Mistral will provide onboard AI models, BlackSky will supply high-resolution optical payloads, and Orbitworks will build the spacecraft in Abu Dhabi’s KEZAD zone. The satellites will process radar, optical and other sensor data in orbit, delivering results within seconds to government and commercial customers in France, Europe, the UAE and globally for maritime domain awareness, wildfire detection, disaster response, and critical-infrastructure security.
