London surgeons remove brain tumour in first AI-assisted operation of its kind

Surgeons at London’s National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery excised an 11 mm pituitary tumour using an AI system that analyzed live endoscopic video to identify nerves, blood vessels and tissue interactions in real time. The AI, trained on hundreds of pituitary-surgery videos, supplied a decade of operative experience within ten months. The procedure restored the patient’s vision and enabled a rapid return to work.
