Mathematicians want proof OpenAI didn’t use their work

Mathematician Andreas Thom posted on Mastodon that conversations he and fellow researchers had with ChatGPT prior to OpenAI’s public claim of breakthrough mathematical results may have fed the model’s performance. He accuses OpenAI of unethical, dishonest practices and of providing no transparency regarding the provenance of its training data.
