Memory prices are slowing because buyers ran out of money

TrendForce forecasts conventional DRAM contract prices to rise 13-18% quarter-on-quarter in Q3, but growth is moderating because demand is shifting to lower-capacity parts and PC and smartphone buyers cannot absorb further price hikes. European PC shipments are expected to fall 6.4% YoY in Q3 and up to 30% in Q4 as higher memory costs push system prices up, prompting corporate buyers to stretch refresh cycles despite security risks.
