Meta agrees to sweeping changes to restrict kids’ access to its apps as part of settlement with states

Meta will enforce a two-hour daily limit for users under 18 on Instagram and Facebook, lockout after the limit is reached, and apply a default “Night Mode” blocking access from midnight to 6 a.m., with notifications muted during school hours (8 a.m.–3 p.m.). Additional safeguards include non-personalized default feeds, 15-minute usage prompts, disabled autoplay, hidden like counts, and restrictions on extreme makeup filters, all to remain for ten years pending judicial approval.
