Meta executive leaves for OpenAI as the social media giant faces growing scrutiny in India
Sandhya Devanathan, Meta’s India and Southeast Asia vice president, is leaving after more than ten years to join OpenAI in Singapore, reporting to Asia-Pacific managing director Kiran Mani and overseeing consumer growth, enterprise adoption, partnerships, regulatory engagement, and operations across Southeast Asia and Australia. Her move follows OpenAI’s recent regional hires, including Prabhjeet Singh as India head, as the firm expands its Asia-Pacific presence with offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney and Delhi. Meta’s India managing director Arun Srinivas will now report directly to Asia-Pacific VP Benjamin Joe amid increased scrutiny by Indian authorities over content-moderation and child-exploitation concerns.
