Meta is dropping Google Chat for Slack because it says agents work better there

Meta is moving its internal communications from Google Chat to Slack, citing Slack’s superior conversational interface, developer tooling, and third-party integrations that support AI agents, according to a memo from AI chief Alexandr Wang. The shift benefits Salesforce, which acquired Slack for $27.7 billion, while European governments continue adopting sovereign-controlled platforms such as France’s Tchap and Germany’s Matrix-based solutions.
