Micron’s Taiwan unions are heading for a strike vote over bonuses

Around 10,000 Micron Taiwan workers, represented by two unions, are set to vote on a strike after an initial poll showed about 80% backing industrial action over the company’s Incentive Pay Plan. The unions seek a profit-sharing model, referencing Samsung’s 10.5% and SK hynix’s 10% profit-based bonuses, while Micron’s capped bonuses average 2.6 months of salary. Mediation is planned for late August and mid-September; a failed mediation could lead to a September strike that would halt Micron’s DRAM fab and tighten the global memory market.
