Microsoft-backed AI data center has been accused of violating federal law

Thermal-drone footage shows DataOne’s partially built AI data center in Vineland, New Jersey, operating at least 45 of its 62 gas-powered generators simultaneously, none of which have federal or state permits. The site, part of a $17 billion Microsoft-Nebius partnership and slated to become a 2.6 million-square-foot facility, has drawn noise complaints, lawsuits, and multiple stop-work orders, prompting EPA officials to call the unpermitted emissions illegal.
