Microsoft strikes deal with national teachers union to not use school data to train AI

Microsoft and the American Federation of Teachers signed a legally enforceable agreement that bars Microsoft from using teacher or student data to train AI models, except for narrow safety and security cases, and prohibits tracking students or allowing AI to make school decisions without human oversight. The pact also requires transparency to educators and parents and takes effect for school districts on November 1, with Microsoft liable for breach.
