Microsoft’s head of comms is leaving after almost 20 years

Frank Shaw, who has served as Microsoft’s chief communications officer for 17 years, announced his departure in 2025 after 29 years with the company, including nearly 20 years as an employee and earlier work at Waggener Edstrom. Shaw’s tenure began in 1997, during which he managed communications for major Windows and Office releases, CEO transitions, the shift to cloud, and large acquisitions such as LinkedIn ($26.2 billion) and a $69 billion purchase.
