Milan’s Domyn raises over $1bn Europe’s largest AI round, mostly in debt

Domyn raised about $1.1 billion—10% equity, 90% debt—to build the Colosseum supercomputer in southern Italy, featuring 80 Nvidia GB200 NVL72 systems, nearly 6,000 Grace Blackwell chips, 7 MW power consumption and 115 exaflops for models exceeding a trillion parameters. Founded in 2016 and rebranded last year, the firm sells AI models that customers can own and pre-train, has benchmarked its largest model against GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and plans to invest $10 billion to achieve €1 billion in revenue within three years.
