MIT tech powered the Artemis II livestreams
MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Orion Artemis II Optical Communications System (O2O) used infrared laser links to downlink nearly 0.5 TB of data at up to 260 Mbps during the Artemis II Orion mission, delivering crystal-clear video of the lunar far side, Earth’s crescent, a total solar eclipse and meteoroid impacts. The system demonstrated high-bandwidth, Earth-like internet connectivity for astronauts in deep space.
