Mom Gets 6-Mo Suspended Sentence for Letting 5-Year-Old Walk to the Pond

Virginia mother Karyann Parkinson received a six-month suspended jail sentence after being convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allowing her five-year-old son to walk half a mile alone in their gated community. CPS placed her on the state child-abuse and neglect registry for seven years, and the conviction may affect her ability to volunteer in schools and obtain a law license.
