mRNA cancer vaccine succeeded in Phase 3 melanoma trial, Moderna and Merck say

Moderna and Merck reported that their personalized mRNA vaccine, intismeran (mRNA-4157), combined with Keytruda, improved outcomes in a Phase 3 trial of 1,137 stage IIB–IV melanoma patients whose tumors had been surgically removed. Patients received the vaccine plus Keytruda or Keytruda alone for about a year in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The results suggest the vaccine can enhance established immunotherapy in advanced melanoma.
