Music distributors agree to new anti-fraud measures

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry launched the Streaming Integrity Initiative on September 14, requiring participating distributors to verify rights ownership, vet content, investigate fraud, share intelligence, and strengthen anti-fraud systems. Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Merlin have joined, and the IFPI urges additional companies to adopt the commitments to protect artists, songwriters, and record labels from revenue-stealing streaming fraud.
