Neanderthals seemed to have a thing for modern human women

Neanderthals and modern humans interbred, resulting in Neanderthal DNA in modern human genomes. The X chromosome, a "Neanderthal desert," lacks Neanderthal DNA, suggesting selective mating. Neanderthal males preferred modern human females, as shown by modern human sequences on the X chromosomes of Neanderthal genomes.
