A new solar cell could generate electricity underwater

Simin Ma and a team at Yunnan University developed perovskite solar cells capable of generating electricity underwater. Unlike silicon, these materials are tunable to specific light wavelengths that penetrate deep water. The lower temperatures and reduced light intensity found in marine environments also mitigate the degradation issues typically associated with perovskite technology.
