Norway Should Buy OpenAI

Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global, worth over $2 trillion, could buy OpenAI, valued at about $800 billion. The purchase would move OpenAI from private to public ownership. OpenAI’s conversion to a for-profit corporation removed a clause that would have distributed an intelligence explosion’s benefits globally. The fund would hand OpenAI’s management to an international multilateral institution, using Norway’s experience in collective wealth management and its record of meeting UN aid targets.
