Novo Nordisk Foundation to build $62M quantum chip plant in Copenhagen

Novo Nordisk Foundation is building a 5,300-square-metre quantum chip foundry in Copenhagen, opening in 2027 at a cost of about $62 million. The plant will offer wafer fabrication, nanofabrication, testing, assembly, packaging, and ultra-high-vacuum manufacturing for quantum processors, addressing a European capacity gap. The foundation has already committed over DKK 2.9 billion (€390 million) to quantum research and manufacturing, linking the foundry to its Niels Bohr Institute program that targets Denmark’s first fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2034.
