Nvidia’s $3.5B MediaTek bet reveals its plan for tackling Big Tech’s AI chip buildout

Nvidia is investing $3.5 billion in MediaTek, granting the Taiwanese firm access to Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion ecosystem so its custom AI chips can interoperate with Nvidia-based data centers. MediaTek aims to generate $2 billion in custom data-center ASIC revenue by 2026 and will collaborate on Nvidia’s DGX Spark, RTX Spark, and Drive AGX platforms for AI-powered PCs and vehicles.
