Olympian Jenny Simpson Says Her Running Career Is Over After Cardiac Arrest
Jenny Simpson, a three-time Olympian, survived a sudden cardiac arrest in June after collapsing while pacing a mile race in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was diagnosed with the rare inherited condition Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). She recovered at Duke Hospital, returned home, and announced that, because ARVC makes intense running unsafe, her competitive running career is over, though she will remain involved in the sport through her role at Fleet Feet.
