Once popular for attacking AI, ASCII smuggling is embraced by spammers

ASCII smuggling uses a block of 128 Unicode tags that visually mimic ASCII characters but remain invisible to human readers, allowing malicious prompts to be embedded in emails without detection. Originally publicized two years ago to conceal prompt-injection attacks on large language models, spammers now employ the technique to bypass email-filtering systems designed to block mass-mail campaigns.
