An ongoing 3D-printer AGPL violation

At FOSSY 2026, the Software Freedom Conservancy presented evidence that Bambu Lab is circumventing the Affero GPL v3 in its 3D-printer software, violating the license that protects slicer programs such as Alessandro Ranellucci’s AGPL-licensed Slic3r. Conservancy activists Bradley Kühn, Karen Sandler and Denver Gingerich detailed how the breach undermines free-software principles and described ongoing efforts to offer users licensed alternatives.
