OpenAI delays IPO over AI safety concerns

OpenAI has postponed its initial public offering until it can “make confident safety decisions,” CEO Sam Altman said at the company’s annual developer day. The delay follows a lawsuit alleging that OpenAI’s tools were used to hack a third party. Altman emphasized that the $852 billion startup will not rush to go public while AI capabilities continue to advance rapidly.
