OpenAI just anchored an Australian company’s Malaysian data centres

An Australian firm will construct data centres in Malaysia equipped with American chips and sell the compute output to OpenAI. Co-CEO of the firm said the deal marks the shift from Asia-Pacific consuming AI to producing it. OpenAI will contract dedicated compute from two of the new Firmus facilities.
