OpenAI disclosed that its researchers now consume 3.1 agent-workdays for every human workday, with median daily inference costs exceeding $600 and the 90th percentile surpassing $7,000 in token usage. Chief scientist Jakub Pachocki warned that no lab has achieved sufficient alignment or monitoring to safely continue rapid scaling, urging voluntary slowdowns until shared safety standards exist.
