Pacific Fusion’s next fusion machine could clear a key hurdle to commercial power
Pacific Fusion began constructing a New Mexico test facility that will fire 156 pulser modules, each with 32 stages, delivering about 440 GW peak power for 80 ns and generating roughly 100 MJ per shot—ten times the National Ignition Facility’s yield. The company targets net-facility-gain by 2030 and plans a commercial plant producing five-times more energy, operating at one shot per second and connecting to the grid in the mid-2030s.
