Pentagon AI chief says US allies lack the resources to keep pace

Pentagon chief digital and AI officer Cameron Stanley told the Billington Cybersecurity Summit that NATO and Five Eyes allies lack the United States’ resources, experience and scale for military AI, and his office is helping them avoid U.S. development mistakes. He noted the U.S. has committed roughly $800 million to AI contracts with firms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI, while no European defence ministry can match that budget or domestic frontier-AI firms.
