Perplexity partners with Nvidia to launch Portable Computer, a fully local AI agent with zero token costs

Perplexity’s new Portable Computer runs its “Computer” agentic platform entirely on local hardware—initially Nvidia DGX Spark workstations and Linux PCs with RTX GPUs—so model weights, files, and processing stay on the device and incur no cloud credits. It bundles a 27-billion-parameter Qwen model, inference engine, tool connectors and a security sandbox, allowing tasks such as reviewing 1099s or analyzing CSV data locally while optionally escalating specific steps to a cloud frontier model.
