Previewing the Model Hardware Standard
The Model Hardware Standard (MHS) defines a common specification and driver that lets AI agents operate microscopes, liquid handlers, robotic arms, and quantum-computer laser calibrators via read/write primitives and the Model Context Protocol. It makes devices discoverable, tags their characteristics and safety limits in natural language, cuts integration time from weeks to minutes, and allows agents to run autonomous experiments, adjust parameters in real time, and recover from hardware errors without human intervention.
