Private equity firm Apollo confirms data breach amid hacking wave targeting financial giants

Apollo Global Management confirmed a data breach from July 6 to July 10. Hackers accessed the cloud environment through a social-engineering attack. Stolen data included names, birth dates, contact details, home addresses, and Social Security numbers. The breach was reported in a letter to California’s attorney general. HR chief Matthew Breitfelder said attackers spoofed IT helpdesk calls to gain credentials.
