Psilocybin Might Make Your Brain Live in the Moment
Researchers gave 62 psychedelic-naïve participants 19 mg oral psilocybin and recorded activity across 332 brain regions with fMRI and EEG while they meditated, listened to music, or watched a film. AI analysis revealed that stronger psilocybin experiences produced clearer, activity-specific neural patterns, correlating with participants’ reports of heightened immersion and a sense of unity. This shows that psilocybin reorganizes brain networks into distinct signatures reflecting moment-by-moment experience.
