Rakuten Kobo returns to U.S. retail as sales double

Best Buy stores across the United States now carry a range of Rakuten Kobo e-readers and accessories, reviving the Japanese-owned Canadian bookseller’s U.S. retail presence after its Walmart partnership ended in 2024. Kobo’s U.S. sales doubled in both 2025 and 2026, driven by its 2024 launch of color e-readers, heightened social-media visibility, a dedicated page-turning remote, and integrated Libby library support.
