Relativity Networks raised $22mn to make AI’s fibre run at nearly light speed

Relativity Networks raised $22 million via a SAFE round and secured a $40 million order from an unnamed hyperscaler after testing its ChronoCore hollow-core fibre, which transmits light about 47-50% faster than conventional solid-glass fibre—roughly five μs per kilometre versus three-and-a-half μs. The company demonstrated a 24-fibre, 10-mm cable that fits standard microducts, arguing that reduced latency is critical as AI workloads spread across geographically dispersed data-center campuses, creating what it calls the “Propagation Tax.”
