RFK Jr. names 8 new members to influential preventive medicine task force

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced eight new members for the 16-person US Preventive Services Task Force, a federal panel that issues evidence-based, graded recommendations on preventive services such as depression screening, statin use, colonoscopies, and mammograms. The USPSTF’s A- and B-grade recommendations obligate health insurers to cover services at no cost. Kennedy has previously halted USPSTF meetings, refused to appoint replacements, and fired two leaders, raising concerns about the panel’s independence.
