Ring introduces better default encryption standards to address privacy concerns

Ring has launched TAKE, a “Throw Away the Key Encryption” system that uses unique, rotating keys sent to a secure cloud enclave, activates smart-home functions, and deletes the keys afterward, limiting Ring’s long-term access to video. The company also offers full end-to-end encryption, which removes Ring from the data path but disables many smart-home features. TAKE will roll out in September, while existing end-to-end encryption remains available.
