Rivian EVs are getting a software update that warns you what’s ahead

Rivian’s software update 2026.31 introduces Rivian OS 2.0 and real-time Waze alerts to all R1, R1S, R1T and R2 models, rebuilding the infotainment screen for a unified core operating system while still lacking Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Volkswagen, now Rivian’s largest shareholder at 15.9%, is funding a joint venture that will extend the shared vehicle architecture to Europe by 2027, aligning with EU rulings that force carmakers to allow interchangeable in-car software components.
