Robotics startup Generalist reaches $3B valuation, sources say
Generalist, founded in 2024 by former DeepMind researchers Pete Florence and Andy Zeng and ex-Boston Dynamics engineer Andrew Barry, raised nearly $200 million in an extension of its $400 million Series B, bringing total funding to $600 million and valuation to $3 billion. Its Gen 1.5 AI foundation model enables robots to learn new tasks from three- to twelve-second video clips, and the company is refining the model with a small group of customers. Competitors Physical Intelligence, Skild AI and Genesis AI are developing comparable universal-robot intelligence, with valuations between $11 billion and $14 billion.
