Saab Enters Collaborative Combat Aircraft Race with High-End Concept

Saab unveiled the A3, a tailless, supersonic, double-delta-wing unmanned combat aircraft concept intended for early-2030s development as a “peer-capable complement” to the Gripen E and a steppingstone toward Sweden’s 2040s fighter replacement. The company is also prototyping two F414-powered demonstrators, the A1—scheduled to fly within 15 months with a conventional delta wing and canted V-tails—and the A2, slated for late-decade flight and featuring an internal weapons bay.
