Scammers have been inserting fake songs onto real artist's pages on Spotify and other platforms

Scammers generate low-quality songs with AI and upload them to real artists’ Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, and Amazon Music profiles via a distribution loophole, collecting royalties that bypass the original artist. The Brooklyn band Lathe of Heaven’s 404 Media test proved the scheme needs only a distribution account and false authorship claims. Spotify is developing a pre-release review tool, but roughly 50,000 AI-generated tracks appear daily, with over 300 already linked to major acts and deceased musicians.
