Scientists Create the Littlest Big Bang to Study the Universe's Origins
CERN researchers created quark-gluon plasma by colliding oxygen-16 and neon-20 nuclei, demonstrating that nuclei an order of magnitude lighter than lead can still produce the primordial “little big bang.” The resulting fireball exhibited collective fluid-like expansion before cooling, confirming QGP signatures at these reduced scales.
