Security researcher Matthew “Zigula” Gore-Kormanik investigated the fake dating app Dora when a pop-up claimed he was receiving a call from a user named Jennifer. The call showed no video of her, only a moving tapestry and distorted background audio, and after it ended Jennifer texted him saying she had fun and complimented his voice. The incident illustrates how the app manipulates users with fabricated profiles and deceptive audio-visual cues.
