The MLC, a nonprofit under the Music Modernization Act, holds more than $656 million in unclaimed mechanical royalties that will be redistributed by market share starting January 2027, with $76.61 million allocated for the next year. A new self-service tool lets users enter a Spotify artist link, scans every release against the MLC’s bulk data, displays each track’s claim status, estimates the amount of money currently stuck, and provides direct links to the MLC portal for fixing unclaimed, partially claimed, or missing registrations.
