ClaudeStatsBar adds a pure-Python status line to Claude Code displaying the current session size, token cost of the next turn, and remaining time in the 5-hour and 7-day windows, allowing users to clear or compact sessions. Two weeks of data show sessions can silently reach hundreds of thousands of tokens, causing billions of tokens to be transmitted because each turn resends the full conversation, with the top 10% of sessions generating 71% of token traffic.
