Show HN: SteppeWM – a stacking IceWM-like Wayland compositor

SteppeWM is a lightweight, themeable stacking Wayland compositor that replicates IceWM’s floating windows, titlebars, taskbar, and Alt-Tab switcher. It supports window snapping, workspaces, OSD for volume and brightness, layer-shell, session lock, multi-monitor, system tray, and optional XWayland via xwayland-satellite. Built with Meson, Ninja, and wlroots (0.18-0.20), it reads a Lua configuration file at ~/.config/steppewm/config.lua and provides 25 IceWM pixmap themes plus Lua theming tools. Installation is available through the Arch AUR or by compiling from source with dependencies including wayland, libinput, cairo, and optionally libpulse and sdbus-c++.
