Shutting down our public encrypted DNS

Mullvad will discontinue its public encrypted DNS (DoH) servers and redirect users to Quad9, citing Quad9’s superior privacy focus and the redundancy of the service for VPN users. Existing DoH configurations must be switched by 2 November 2026, with Mullvad Browser automatically moving default settings to Quad9 while custom configurations remain unchanged. iOS and macOS profiles will also need replacement with Quad9 equivalents.
